Czechs are famously reserved with strangers, and Prague's international population turns over every few years. Yet the city is full of recurring, low-pressure things to join. In a February 2026 survey, Czechs most often met their partner through friends (22%) or at work (17%) — only 7% through a dating app. Social circles still win, so build one.
Social run clubs
- Prague Social Runners — free, thousands of members. Wednesdays 18:30 from Řezáčovo náměstí near Vltavská, then drinks; weekend runs from the Výstaviště gate through Stromovka, then coffee.
- Viva Sports Run Club — Sundays 10:00 from Kolektor Café, Prague 7, an easy 5 km.
Language exchanges and international meetups
- BlaBla Language Exchange — free, at Tequila Tales Bar, Újezd 19, Malá Strana. The same bar hosts a Thursday 19:00 exchange.
- Couchsurfing — weekly international meetup on Thursday evenings.
Games, climbing, dancing
- Bohemia Boards & Brews — Vršovice (Charkovského 18) and Palmovka (Sokolovská 125). Come alone and ask to join a table.
- Bouldering: Boulder Bar Holešovice (U Výstaviště 11, Prague 7, with a bar), Lezecké centrum SmíchOFF (Křížová 6, Prague 5).
- Dance: swing at Swing Busters, Swing Move or Zig-Zag; salsa at Bohemian Salsa or Tančírna. Sign up for a full beginner course — the same group for eight weeks is what builds friendships.
